The Ukiyoe Furoshiki 'The Great Wave' (off Kanagawa) is one of Japan's most famous art works, and is a part of a series by acclaimed artist Hokusai Katsushika called 'Thirty Six Views of Mount Fuji'. This series was a huge inspiration for artists such as the French Impressionists and Vincent Van Gogh. The series included iconic artworks as 'South Wind, Clear Sky' ('Red Fuji'), and 'Kajikazawa Inkai'.
Our extra large, single-sided 104cm furoshiki is a beautiful piece of art work in its own right, and makes a wonderful wall-hanging.
As a furoshiki bag and as furoshiki gift-wrapping it is fantastic - the image and the colours of the print are really striking, and what makes it extra special is the pearlescent shimmer of the water, especially the scattered water droplets of the art work!
The wrap-around sleeve that the furoshiki is packaged in is very nicely designed too, making a wonderful gift.
